Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A. (AKF USA) announces inaugural PartnershipsInAction Softball Classic in Chicago.

This 12" slow-pitch softball tournament will feature an all-day round robin, and will end with a single elimination playoff tournament to name the first ever Softball Classic Champion!

• Teams will be entered into the Classic on a first come first serve basis
• A donation of $300 per team (or a minimum of $30 per person) is required to enter the Classic
• Lunch will be provided to each paid participant.

Individuals and businesses can help make the world a better place by putting together a team or sponsoring and promoting the Softball Classic.

• 100% of net proceeds go directly to development projects supported by Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A
• Help leverage additional support from government agencies, corporations and private foundations to stretch each dollar even further to fight global poverty.

Event Details

Softball teams will compete in a round-robin tournament, and crown a champion at day’s end. Individuals and businesses can help make the world a better place by participating in a variety of ways, from putting together a team to sponsoring and promoting the Softball Classic. Highlights

On August 10, 2008 at the Roselle Park District, over 130 softball players took a swing at ending global poverty at the inaugural Softball Classic in Roselle, Illinois. Approximately $12,000 was raised at the charity event.

Ten teams from Chicago and the surrounding area played an all-day round-robin that ended with a single elimination playoff tournament. First place went to team Wise Guys from Aurora taking the title of Softball Classic Champion. Second place went to team Parrot Media from Schaumburg. Over 300 players and spectators joined in family activities to raise awareness of the foundation's mission.
