arduous journey as the USDA milk travels half way around the world via ship, train, truck, cable crane, boat
and donkey to reach the children of Badakhshan. The video aims to
educate and inspire viewers about the achievements made amidst incredible challenges in this remote
mountainous region of Central Asia.
Crossing the Pyanj River
Crossing the Pyanj River is a 3½-minute program portraying the logistical challenges of delivering the milk to
Afghan school children in an area surrounded by high mountains, which is extremely remote and
impoverished. This video program focuses on the creative modes of transportation used to deliver the milk
into the border districts of Badakhshan, Afghanistan.
The 20-minute movie highlights the progress Afghan
communities have experienced in recent years with the support of a wide variety of programs by the Aga
Khan Development Network.
This 21:12-minute program shows how AKF’s
Coastal Rural Support Programme (CRSP) in Kenya’s Kwale and Kilifi Districts is helping communities
organize community-level institutions from the ground up that improve food security and access to safe
water as well as advance early childhood development programs, expand rural enterprises that improve
incomes, and enhance human and environmental health.
Harnessing the Elements: The Impact of Mountain Infrastructure and Engineering
This
34-minute video produced by Aga Khan Rural Support Program, illustrates the

Taller Than The Mountains: A Tribute to the Mountain Women of Northern Pakistan
The 22-minute
documentary was produced by the Aga Khan Rural Support
Program (Pakistan) – a development organization that works in partnership with local communities in
the high mountain ranges of Northern Pakistan. The video serves as a mouthpiece for these mountain women representing their
domestic, economic and social responsibilities, and the challenges they face to empower themselves
within their communities.
