Home | About Us | About PartnershipsInAction About Village in Action"If you go to the Global Village you will go through a small journey of the power of possibility. A little bit of help can change lives for people for generations to come. ... Our investing in the right kind of things in difficult places like Afghanistan can help create models of cooperative citizenship, create jobs, and enable women to be employed and to be trained."Iqbal Noorali, CEO AKF USA, Partnership Walk 2007, Atlanta, GA Each year, Partnership Walk features the Village in Action, giving walkers greater insight and understanding to the challenges faced by people in developing countries. Interactive and engaging exhibits and games are developed to showcase the Foundation’s achievements in health, education, rural development, microfinance, community organizing and the environment. The Village in Action informs visitors about how their support is making a positive impact in communities in Asia and Africa. Exhibits and hands-on activities are inspired, planned and designed by participants from local communities, including youth from local schools and universities. The experience provides the participants with a deeper appreciation for impact of the Foundation’s projects and a pathway for engaging as global citizens.
The exhibits and educational displays at the Global Village in Action illustrate how the Foundation works in concert with its sister agencies of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN) to integrate social development with economic and cultural development. Visitors to Village in Action experience interactive exhibits which showcasing Aga Khan Development Network’s integrated approach over the course of 50 years, in building solid foundation of institutions aimed at improving the livelihoods of people in post-conflict regions and remote, rural villages.
