Ambassador’s Role: Raise funds for the Walk – The money you raise by creating awareness of the importance of providing hope and opportunity to those in the developing world will have a direct impact on the lives of millions in need. Build awareness about global poverty – We live in an interconnected world; what happens in other countries affects all of us. By alleviating poverty and despair, we can plant the seeds for creating a more peaceful world for all of us. Six EASY steps to JOIN IN THE FIGHT against global poverty

  1. Register & Create Your Team
Register your team at www.partnershipwalk.org. You have the added responsibility of being able to e-mail and track member sponsorships.
  2. Encourage Others to Join Your Team
From your personal donation page or via sponsorship form, send e-mails and spread the word to get others to join your team. As team captain, you can play a lead role in building excitement, motivation and letting others know the significant impact they are making as responsible global citizens.
  3. Collect Sponsorships
Get your friends, family and colleagues to support your team by making pledges. You and your team members can collect sponsorships by cash or check with an official numbered registration/sponsorship form or through the creation of your own personal donation page online, after your team has been formed.
  4. Team Administration
Track your team’s progress online or via sponsorship forms. Set a team fundraising goal and stay connected with all your team members. Encourage team members to reach out to other friends and colleagues to join in this important cause. Remember to contact your team with Walk Day details and remind your team to bring any sponsorship forms and money they have collected to the registration booth on Walk Day.
  5. Rally Your Team
Boost team spirit on Walk Day with team shirts, hats, banners, signs, and even theme songs. Be creative and have fun! Notify Walk organizers that your teams want to be photographed or interviewed on video, which may be used in future promotional materials.
  6. Follow-Up
Ensure that team members collect and submit all donations. The deadline to submit sponsorship forms and funds is Walk Day. Thank your team members for participating in the Walk and let them know that their participation has helped make a difference in the lives of poor communities around the world. In the post-Walk period, share follow-up materials with team members (i.e. press releases, Highlights Report, and website updates).

How Do I Ask Someone to Donate?

When asking friends, family and colleagues to support you in Partnership Walk, you may want to include the following:

  • I am a Ambassador for Partnership Walk, an annual event that takes place in 5 major U.S. cities nationwide and raises funds and awareness to fight global poverty.
  • 100% of the funds raised go directly to support programs that help people become self-reliant, and provide a spark of hope and opportunity in the developing world.
  • The Walk is an initiative of Aga Khan Foundation U.S.A., an international,non-profit development agency that is committed to implementing community-led, cost-effective programs to improve livelihoods of communities in the developing world.
  • I am raising money for the Walk because I believe that each one of us has the power to make a difference in our world, and because I believe that you, like me, believe that providing opportunity to those less fortunate then us can create a more peaceful, secure and prosperous world for all of us.
  • Today, you can make an incredible difference in the life of your global neighbor by contributing $25, $50, $100 or more.

Remember to invite each individual to Walk Day in their city to show their support towards ending global poverty.
